The Isanti County Minnesota Genealogy Society and Isanti County Historical Society are pleased to announce a series of classes to assist you as you begin your journey to learn about your heritage.
We will be offering classes over the next year introducing varying research options available to you. Many options are local, as well as including internet websites.
As you learn about the individuals in your past you will need to store the information you have found. You will be introduced to both handwritten/manual sources as well as computerized modes of storing this information.
Last, but not least, you will be provided with varying ideas for sharing your information.

Cost for each session is $ 10.00. Please contact the ICHS to register for any of these sessions no later than one week prior to their session date. All classes will be from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Thursday, Sept 9 - Who Am I Related To?
In this session you will learn to gather names, dates and basic information about your ancestors. You will also learn about pedigree charts and how to complete them. We will also provide you electronic options in your research.
Thursday, Oct 14, 2010 — Who Are They?
We will continue the research of finding out about our ancestors. This time we will also be including electronic options in your research.
Thursday, Nov 11, 2010 — Tell Me A Story
Don’t forget to talk to your living family members while researching your family tree. They are a valuable resource to you. We will help you with questions to ask during an interview as well as other resources as you gather “current” history and pictures.
2011
Thursday, Jan 13, 2011 — Let’s Work On It!
Will you be sharing this information with others? How will you organize your information to share with others? This session will focus on assembling your story. Much of this session will be an opportunity for you to be working on your project.
Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 — Get Wired!
The first part of this session will be to in-form you on some other options to capture your information:
• Digital scrapbooks
• Book to publish
• Family webpage
• Computer programs
We will provide you information on these varying sources to assist you in making this decision. Much of this session will be a work session to use either digital information or continue with working on January’s organization methods.
Thursday, Mar 10, 2011 — Where Do We Go From Here?
Explore options for telling your story. Only your imagination will limit you ill share all, or a part, of your legacy. Examples will be provided and then we will continue working on our projects together.
Thursday, Apr 14, 2011 — Working All Night!
Tonight will be a night to work on our projects, share ideas and use the resources available at ICHS.
Thursday, May 12, 2011 — It’s All About ME!
It is a big day! Now is your opportunity to share with the rest of your “support” group the result of your labors! We will be getting LOTS of great ideas from each other.
